Indian Foundation Seed and Services Association (IFSSA) is a "Non-Profit Organization " registered under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. IFSSA will be initially supported by the Barwale Foundation formerly known as Mahyco Research Foundation. IFSSA has been conceptualized by visionaries like Dr. B.R. Barwale and Dr. Wayne H. Freeman for bridging public sector crop research, private seedsmen and Indian farming communities. IFSSA multiplies the foundation seed (seeds of parental lines) of promising hybrids developed by public sector and make available good quality seeds of public bred varieties/hybrids to those seedsmen, who could produce commercial hybrid seed and distribute to the farmers.
